The Sealed Knot and Picton Castle welcome you to
History Through The Ages
On the weekend of the 9th & 10th of August, the peace will be broken at Picton Castle by hundreds of reenactors descending on Pembrokeshire. They will be providing two full days' excitement and colour recreating events from throughout our history.
Following on from the last 2 successful events the Sealed Knot has staged at Picton Castle, this year's event will be bigger and better with the introduction of reenactors from many other periods of this island's history.
In the morning experience the serenity of Picton Castle with its beautiful gardens and woodland walks followed in the afternoon by the noise and excitement of sword, musket, cannon and pike.
The reenactments start with the tribal feuds of the Iron Age and range right through to Wellington's famous redcoat army. You will get the chance to see:
- Men at arms practising and drilling;
- Life in war-time encampments at various points through history;
- The noise, smell and fear of a large English Civil War battle;
- One-on-one armoured combat;
- Seventeenth century duelling;
- Medieval Welsh archers with their longbows.
The kids haven't been forgotten: throughout the day they can play in the adventure playground (including fort), get involved with the 'have-a-go' medieval archery, and after the main battle they can train with the soldiers.
After the afternoon's activities on the Saturday, there will be a pig roast allowing you to sit back and enjoy a bite to eat and a drink to finish off your day.
Admission to the Garden, Gallery and all the day's events is just £4.95 for adults, £4.75 for senior citizens, and £2.50 for children: superb value for a great family day out! (Castle admission £1.00 extra for adults, 50p extra for children.)
